An epitaph

Sarah had a hard life (particularly to the Western eye) - but she lived it well. She was faithful to her family (she was the last of her siblings, and as well as her own two children she was looking after 5 other related children. Until she died last year, her mother also lived with Sarah); She was faithful to those she served - to us, and to the MAF families she worked for for the 17 years before we arrived. She was faithful to her church and her God - she was fully involved at church, and got involved in all the activities going on. She also helped regularly with the Safina Street Network - the street children project that Libby has told about elsewhere. She was one of the few Tanzanians (actually, lets be fair, one of the few people) I have met who, like the widow with the mite, gave, and gave out of her poverty. while she may not have had much money, she had her time - and she used it well. It is comforting to think that after the grind of a life amongst the poorest, she is now reaping her richly-earned reward.
